[EN] Geometry : a high-skilled science

Koxx Sky² frame / pic by TartyBikes

Hi, after about a month without a word, here is the come-back of Tech & Tips with an article who will interested a lot of trialists I guess.

If riding with the World Champ's bike is the only way to find the best geometry for a lot of riders, we have all around us evidence every day that is actually false. Each brand make a frame and a geometry based on the recommandations of its Number One rider (this is not the case in other disciplines. Frames of the Number One have a specific geometry and those sold have one more suitable for everyone), this can't suit for everyone, because each rider have his own style.

It is often during a session we heard phrases like "I do not feel well in rear wheel", "I find it hard to tap", etc., etc. ... I shall not consider the technical level of riders, but only the geometry of frames.

When choosing a frame we tend to focus on the wheelbase, and a little on the BB height. Anything else but the wheelbase is one of the measures most unfit to properly define the size of a frame, since it depends on the length of the chainstay, the fork used and the caster angle (angle between the ground and the headtube).

Geometry deserves to pay close attention, so I will write about it in several articles. See you soon for more!
